The best thing about America is that even if you fall down; you’re never really done. There’s always another chance. That’s why it offers us two coasts—the East Coast and the West Coast. And that’s why, after being robbed of the expensive upper-class life she dearly loved, Jasmine boards a plane from New York City to San Francisco, to have another go. To test how cruel it can be, despite her tenacity to pursue the life she thinks she deserves.
Unfortunately, Jasmine is left wondering if the past holds too much regard, even though she didn’t herself. So then, how can one truly move on from one’s past without moving on from oneself?
A fabulous screenplay, like most of his films. Cate had many emotions but hit me hardest with pathos.
New Yorkers—elitist, egoist, and cold-hearted like their skies.
San Franciscans—welcoming, forgiving, and warm-hearted like their suns.
LOL. Sure.
